About Us

The Journal of Complementary Medicine is published by Optimal Health Communications Pty Ltd (ABN 59 099 430 350), a private company incorporated
in January 2002 by Russell Norden, Publisher of the Journal.

Prior to the JCM, Russell Norden had a 25-year history in mainstream medical publishing. He published Australian Doctor for 14 years — then the country’s most successful and widely read medical weekly tabloid — and previously worked for 10 years at MIMS, the essential reference guide for GPs.

Steven Chong is the Editor of the Journal, and he comes from a complementary medicines background, publishing health and lifestyle books, magazines and website articles for the consumer market. Steven worked as a freelance journalist in Britain and Australia after being Deputy Editor of the UK-based series Aromatherapy & Natural Health.

Madeleine Jennings is the JCM's Deputy Editor and has worked in mainstream educational, health and consumer publishing for over 10 years. Madeleine was formerly Project Editor on a number of international co-edition books such as The Ecofriendly Home and Fertility and Conception, and worked as a freelance editor in the UK for Guardian Unlimited, AOL and Tescošs You & Your Child websites.

Nicole Barry is Sales & Marketing Manager of the JCM. As a qualified biochemist and pharmacologist, Nicole worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 12 years, initially as a drug representative. After moving into medical publishing with a Masters in Communication Management, she acted as a media sales/advertising manager for the Australian Journal of Pharmacy and PostScript, and as a marketing and communications consultant in France.

Clare Hogan is Account Manager for the JCM. With qualifications in psychology, Clare has built a career in sales and marketing in business-to-business publishing over the past five years in the UK, working on technical and management titles.

Snezna Kerekovic is the JCM’s Consulting Editor for Pharmacy. Snezna was the Editor of Australian Journal of Pharmacy for nine years, and provides editorial advice on the Journal’s community pharmacist readership.

Clare Martin is the Regulatory Compliance Consultant for the Journal. Clare is a pharmacologist who has worked in regulatory affairs and clinical research, and is an industry representative on the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code Council. She established the advertising pre-clearance function for therapeutic goods for the Australian Self-Medication Industry.

Suzanne Cengia is the Art Director of the JCM. With postgraduate qualifications in design, Suzanne has over 10 years' experience in corporate design and identity, clothing and textile graphics, photography and consumer magazine publishing.
